Columbia National Guard colonel charged for DWI, crash

ABC 17 News has confirmed a colonel with the Missouri National Guard from Columbia has landed in jail, accused of driving drunk and hitting another car.

The crash happened Sunday night off Highway 17 just north of Fort Leonard Wood. Troopers say John Findley, 46, crossed the center line, trying to pass another car.

His truck hit another pickup that had three people inside, including a 2-year-old girl.

The other driver suffered serious injuries. He was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Prosecutors just filed three charges of second-degree assault against Findley on Monday in Pulaski County. That is where he is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
