Woman accused of hitting mailboxes, hurting two people while drunk

Boone County deputies arrested a woman Monday night east of Columbia who is accused of hitting several mailboxes and another car after drinking and driving.

Deputies were called to a leaving the scene accident just after 7 p.m. in the 700 block of Easter Lane, off I-70 Drive Southeast, past St. Charles Road. Deputies say they arrived on scene to discover 51-year-old Deborah Barr struck several mailboxes and a car that was driving in the area.

Authorities say Barr left the scene and then struck a different car on I-70 Drive Southeast. Two people, including an underage victim, were injured. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say Barr was intoxicated at the time of the crash. When deputies tried to arrest her, she reportedly resisted and hit one of the deputies. That deputy was not injured.
