Man sentenced and pleads guilty to role in father’s death

David Weil is headed to prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter. He’s sentenced to 15 years for that charge.

Weil, 26, was originally charged in Chariton County with second degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to the death of his father John Piper in 2013.

Prosecutors say Weil stabbed his father with a knife in Brunswick.

Weil also pleaded guilty to first degree assault and will spend 10 years for the first degree assault charge and 5 for domestic assault.

Weil ends up with 30 years behind bars for all the cases.
