Heavy rain and possible flooding Tuesday
A slow moving storm system will bring widespread rain which will be heavy at times from Monday night through Tuesday. Thunderstorms are also possible but severe weather is not expected.
There will be two waves of heavy rain, one which moves in late Monday night into early Tuesday morning and another Tuesday from late-morning through the afternoon. Rain will end from west to east through the late afternoon and evening Tuesday. Rainfall amounts from Monday night through Tuesday are expected to come in at 2 to 5 inches with the highest amounts toward the southeast.
Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of low lying or poor drainage areas and flash flooding on smaller creeks and streams. Significant rises on larger rivers will also be possible. A Flash Flood Watch continues through midnight Wednesday for areas near and south of HWY 54 where the highest rainfall is expected to occur.
