Moniteau Co. woman faces animal abuse charges

A Moniteau County woman is facing three misdemeanor counts of animal abuse Friday after more than 30 dogs were found living in one trailer outside Russellville.

It’s off Morris Road, about 30 minutes west of Jefferson City.

The charges were just filed this week on Sheila Pevehouse. She agreed to give up the animals in late September, when deputies and the humane society went to her home.

The agency said the dogs had fleas, hair loss, open sores, and unsanitary conditions.

Pevehouse has another court date next month.
