Storms leave damage in parts of Mid-Missouri

Strong to severe thunderstorms in addition to gusty winds have caused damage in parts of Mid-Missouri Wednesday.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m., a 12″ diameter tree was reported downed in Salisbury in Chariton Co. Emergency management reported much of the town without power with numerous power poles down.

Also in Chariton County, ABC 17 News confirmed with the emergency management agency that the entire town of Sumner was without power due high winds and storm damage through the city at around 3:30 p.m. Numerous power poles were reported downed as of 4:00 p.m.

A wind gust of 72 mph was recorded in Brunswick at around 3:20 p.m.

Emergency management in Chariton County told ABC 17 News a barn roof was reported in the middle of Highway 11 near Mendon at 3:30 PM.

60-70 mph winds were reported in Callao in Macon County shortly after 4:00 p.m.

Chariton County EMA reported at 4:30 p.m. Highway 129 was closed due to downed power lines near Bynumsville.

Damage was reported to Citizens Bank in Macon, and windows were blown out in buildings along Highway 3 and Highway J, as well as 2 garage doors blown in shortly after 4 PM.
