One person injured in west Columbia shooting

One person is in the hospital after a shooting in Columbia Saturday.

Columbia police responded to the 1500 block of West Worley Street for a report of shots fired around 1:00 p.m.

Officers found one man with a gunshot wound in the arm, according to police on scene.

The victim was not able to give a suspect description to police on scene.

Emergency crews took the man to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Several officers were searching behind a home in the 1500 block of West Worley, but they were still unable to locate a crime scene.

“Somebody said he had ran from that direction, so we were walking over there to see if that’s where it happened,” said Sgt. Jeff Rukstad. “But we haven’t found any witnesses or anybody who heard where it happened or where it came from.”

Sgt. Rukstad said detectives will be speaking to the victim at the hospital to try to get more information.
