Weekday Mizzou football game traffic alert
Before heading out to the Missouri vs. Mississippi State game Thursday, fans should be aware of some special parking and traffic changes.
Students, faculty and staff that park in designated athletic donor lots must move their vehicle by 4 p.m. Parking for the game will begin at 4:30. All cars must be cleared from the parking lots by 7 a.m. Saturday.
Nathan Hurst, a university spokesperson, said students, faculty and staff were notified of the change several weeks in advance.
All other lots on campus will still be available for fan parking.
However, there will be no parking available in the Tiger Avenue garage and Parking Garage #7 structures. Hurst said hospital staff will move their cars from football parking lots into the garages.
To avoid the hassle of parking near the stadium, the city is advising drivers to park downtown and use the CoMo Connect shuttles for $1.50 each way.
Routes to and from the stadium and downtown will begin at 6:15 with buses scheduled to run every 20-30 minutes. Buses will also shuttle to several hotel locations every 30 minutes from the stadium.
Pick up and drop off locations near the stadium will be at Tiger Avenue and Hospital Drive.
Buses will run until about an hour after the game ends.
“We usually transport 3-4 thousand people every game,” said Drew Brooks, the Multi-Modal Manager at Columbia Public Works. “We would expect it to be higher on an event like this, so we think we’re definitely contributing to reducing the amount of traffic going to and from that stadium.
