Temporary Warm Up Through Next Wednesday
After these cool past few days, temperatures will be on the rise once again starting Sunday and lasting into mid week.
Over the next couple of days, the trough of low pressure that has brought us cool and damp conditions will shift east, allowing the upper level flow in our region to first flatten, then form a ridge of high pressure. This pattern will be coupled with the return of southwesterly flow, which will cause temperatures to soar and conditions to remain dry through Wednesday.
Highs will be well above average throughout all of mid-Missouri through the first half of the week, beginning in the lower 70s for Sunday and Monday then gradually increasing to the middle 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday. The overnight lows will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
This stretch of atypical temperatures will be short-lived, however, as a cold front is expected to sweep through the region in the Thursday night-Friday time frame. This front will bring us our next chance for rain. Temperatures will drop to near average, with highs in the lower 60s by Friday and upper 50s by next weekend.
