Crews respond to mobile home fire in south Columbia

Multiple agencies responded to reports of a mobile home fire in south Columbia Thursday morning. Residents had to move out of the trailer park by October 1, so the area is believed to be unoccupied. The property was originally going to become a hospital, before the state voted down the plans. Read about the latest status of the site here.

Both Columbia Fire and the Boone County Fire Protection District were called to the scene, which is just south of Grindstone Parkway and Highway 63 near Sunset Mobile Home Park. Boone County brought in their tankers because water access is limited in the area.

Officials tell ABC 17 News their main concern is keeping the flames from spreading to other structures.

Fourteen units first went to the fire around 11:35 a.m. ABC 17 News has reporters reaching out to crews for more information. Right now a possible cause remains unknown.
