Parts of Highway 50 scheduled to close for construction Thursday

Drivers should expect some lane closures along Route 50/63 in Jefferson City for most of the day Thursday.

Starting at 8:30 a.m., MODOT will close the eastbound entrance ramp onto the highway at Lafayette Street. Crews will also shut down the auxiliary lane on Route 50/63 from Lafayette Street to the Clark Avenue exit.

The lane closures are expected to last until 4 p.m. Thursday.

Crews will be testing the ground where sound walls will later be built.

MODOT advises drivers to use caution when traveling through the work zone.

The construction is part of the two-year, $20.3 million dollar Lafayette Interchange Project, which is expected to be complete by Fall 2016.
