Columbia man arrested in connection to assault with a weapon

Columbia Police arrested a man after responding to a call of a physical domestic with a gun in the 800 block of Fairview Avenue Friday night.

Authorities arrested Aaron Barfield, 33, of Columbia.

Police said Barfield prevented a male victim from leaving the home by tying the victim’s door shut with a power cord.

Barfield also apparently hit the victim in the face, pointed a gun at him and threatened him.

Authorities found methamphetamine and two marijuana pipes on Barfield’s person.

Barfield has prior criminal history and is a convicted felon.

He is facing possible charges of Felony Restraint, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawfully Possessing a Concealable Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Domestic Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Barfield is in the Boone County Jail with a $19,000 bond.
