Cool football weather, possible frost early Saturday
Cooler air will settle over Mid-Missouri Friday and Saturday as high pressure builds over the region. Although we will have sunny skies Friday, temperatures will stay in the 50s much of the day, only topping out in the lower 60s during the afternoon.
The weather looks cool and dry for high school football games Friday evening but quite chilly by the end of the games as temperatures drop into the upper 40s with a light northerly breeze.
Clear skies and light winds will lead to a cold night with low temperatures falling to the mid 30s by daybreak. Areas close to HWY 36 will come close to the freezing mark and frost looks likely. Farther south, areas of frost are expected especially in low lying areas and valleys where the temperature could be a degree or two cooler. Sensitive plants should be covered or brought indoors.
After a chilly morning, the sun will warm temperatures into the upper 50s Saturday afternoon with light east to southeast winds under 6 mph.
