Abnormally dry in Mid-Missouri
A drier weather pattern settled in during the last half of summer, resulting in below average rainfall and abnormally dry conditions in Mid-Missouri. The classification of abnormally dry indicates short-term dryness which slows planting and growth of crops or pastures with a possible drought if rain does not develop.
Rainfall was abundant from April through July but quickly dropped off as the main storm track moved north leaving us with a rainfall deficit of nearly 4 inches for August through September.
October is getting off to a dry start and drier than normal conditions are forecast for the through the middle of the month with above average temperatures. There is some rain in the forecast Thursday night but amounts are expected to come in at a half inch or less.
