Columbia authorities searching for suspect after he runs from police

Officers were called to the 400 block of Worley Street around 6:30 Monday morning for a violation of a restraining order.

As officers were going to the scene, they saw the suspect car leaving.

The suspect, 24-year-old Darren L. Green, then led police on a chase before he got out and took off on foot at the 600 block of Creasy Springs Road.

Two K-9 units were out searching for Green.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department also searched for Green on foot.

Police confirmed The Missouri State Highway Patrol was called to bring in a helicopter to search for the suspect.

Authorities called off the search for Green off Creasy Springs Roadaround 10:00 a.m. Monday.

Police said they got a tip that someone had spotted a man matching Green’s description near Route VV.

Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer told ABC 17 News Green is not in custody and said police towed his car just after 10:30 a.m.

Green has four outstanding warrants for burglary, hit and run, theft and endangering the welfare of a child and domestic assault.

Court documents said Green went into a woman’s house last Wednesday without her permission, then ransacked the house.

When the woman returned home with her child, Green allegedly attacked the woman while she was holding the toddler, threw her on the couch, and held his hand to her mouth so she wasn’t able to breathe.

The woman apparently asked Green if he was going to kill her, and he said, “If I have to.”

Documents said Green then threw a tricycle against a wall, tore a kitchen cabinet off the hinges, and tried multiple times to stop the woman from fleeing the home.

The woman has an active ex-parte against Green, meaning he violated the order when he went into her home.

Documents said later that day, Green returned to the home and threw the woman’s phone into her yard and yelled, “you’ll get what’s coming to you.”

Green is wanted on a $50,000 bond.

He’s previously served 3 times in Missouri prisons.
