Man accused of torturing woman appears in court
A Columbia man accused of torturing a woman was back in court on Monday.
48-year-old David Hatton was charged by a grand jury in Boone County with kidnapping and assault.
Hatton allegedly used a stun gun on the woman’s legs and arms before tying her up with zip ties.
Court documents said he then brought her downstairs, put her on a tarp, and covered her head with a trash bag until she begged him not to kill her.
Investigators said the woman did not end up going to the hospital.
A trial date has not yet been set.
