UPDATE: Missing Jefferson City man found dead in Osage River

Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon confirmed the body of Cody Rush, 30, was located around 9:30 Sunday morning in the Osage River.

Dixon said two women paddle boating spotted the Jefferson City man’s body floating in the river about 300 yards away from the Bonnots Mill River Access where he was last seen camping with family and friends Friday night.

Rush’s family reported him missing Saturday afternoon.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Linn Fire District and Osage County EMS were all involved in the search for Rush both on ground and in the river Saturday.

Upon preliminary investigation, Rush’s death is being ruled as a drowning and no foul play was involved, according to Sheriff Dixon.
