Work to start on $18 million bridge replacement project
The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin replacing three interstate 70 bridges in Columbia starting next week.
On Monday, Aug. 24, crews will start replacing the bridges at Business Loop 70, Garth Avenue and Rangeline Street.
The westbound lane of I-70 will shut down on Aug. 26 and 27 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. for barrier replacement.
Also, one northbound and one southbound lane of Rangeline Street will close from 6 p.m. thru 6 a.m. on Aug. 26 and 27 while crews reconfigure the current traffic lanes.
The sidewalks along Rangeline between I-70 and Vandiver Drive will close for several months when the projects start on Monday.
MoDOT crews tell ABC 17 they hope to have all three bridges replaced by October 2016.
The bridge replacement project will cost $18 million.
