Tracking overnight showers and dangerous heat this week

Tonight: Showers will begin to redevelop to the west of Central Missouri and slowly filter throughout much of the viewing area. The main threat with these showers is the possibility of isolated flash flooding. The overnight low will drop to 71 as winds continue out of the southwest.

Tomorrow: Showers will begin to push to the east by mid-morning and the remaining cloud cover will dissipate by the afternoon leading to mostly clear skies allowing for the temperature to soar to 93, with increased dewpoints. This will lead the heat index to surpass 104 nearing 105 for the first day of our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day.

Extended: Tuesday's temperature continues to climb to 95 for the high as the heat index looks to surpass 105. We will see mostly clear skies with a brief chance of an isolated storm in the late afternoon. Wednesday follows a similar trend with the high and heat index falling a few degrees below Tuesday's. As we head towards the late week/ weekend, winds begin to switch from the southwest to the northeast allowing for the upcoming weekend's temperatures to fall below the early August average of 89 with mostly sunny skies.
