Child in hospital after being left in car for two hours in Hallsville

ABC 17 News is waiting for a new update on the condition of a child after he was left in a car for two hours Sunday afternoon.

The 2-year-old boy was left in a car asleep on Robinson Road North before coming home.

The child was unresponsive but was being cooled off by parents inside when Boone County emergency responders arrived.

The child was taken to the MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

ABC 17 tried to talk to the people inside the home Tuesday, but was asked to leave the property.

Officials said leaving a child in a hot car can happen to anyone, and recommend leaving reminders in your car, such as sticky notes on your dashboard or rear view mirror.

Boone County Fire and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
