Cole Co. commission receives check for air service refund
On Tuesday, Cole County commissioners accepted a check from the City of Columbia for the air service refund.
Jefferson City and Cole County each contributed $100,000 to this fund, which guarantees revenues for American Airlines at the Columbia Regional Airport.
The county received that money back Tuesday with more than $4,000 of interest.
Commissioners said it was an important investment for the county to make.
“That Columbia Airport is really good for business travelers and families and so it’s a little more expensive, but at the same time you have to weigh those costs and travel and parking and all those other things,” said Cole Co. Commissioner Kris Scheperle.
There are no plans in the immediate future to upgrade the Jefferson City Memorial Airport.
