Holiday patrols start on Mid-Missouri highways

Drivers in Mid-Missouri may notice some extra troopers on the roads starting Thursday.

The Highway Patrol’s counting period takes effect Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and ends on Sunday night.

MoDOT is also warning drivers to watch out for long delays west of Columbia.

I-70 is down to one lane in both directions for bridge work near the Marshall Junction near Highway 65 north of Sedalia.

Officials are urging people to use alternate routes including Highway 50 or 36.
