Missing woman’s body recovered in Moniteau County
The Cooper County Sheriff’s Department began looking for 31-year-old Sarah Nicholls, of Boonville, Saturday at noon.
After nearly five hours of search efforts, the woman’s body was recovered just before 5 p.m. near Red Bud Road in Moniteau County.
Nicholls was reported missing Friday morning by her family. She had been camping with her male friend in Prairie Home along the Moniteau Creek Thursday night.
Josh Rice, Cooper County Sheriff Captain, said her friend went into town to get gas and returned to find Nicholls missing around midnight. Authorities believe she may have been swept away by flash flood waters.
No foul play appears to be involved.
Rice said there will not likely be any further investigation.
