Two people dead after Boone County shooting
The Boone County sheriff’s department has identified two people shot Monday after an apparent murder-suicide just east of Columbia.
The body of Thomas Scofield, 66, was found in a home’s backyard in the 900 block of Sun Valley. Deputies believe Scofield shot Jason B. Hagan, 40, inside the home before taking his life.
Deputies told our crews on the scene a man shot his son in-law and then himself. Two young children, ages 1 and 3, were also there at the time and are now in protective custody.
The call first came out around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
