Electric work will close parts of downtown streets in Columbia starting next week.

Columbia Water & Light is about to complete a new electric feeder line project that started last summer.

Crews will install a new electric line from May 18 until June 12, weather permitting.

From May 18 until May 22 the intersection of Elm and 10th streets will be closed.

Work will continue beyond those dates east on Elm Street, and south on Hitt Street to Paquin Street.

The work will close some parking spots on Hitt during the first part of June.
