A 32-year-old Jefferson City suspect is now charged, accused of shooting another man Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses report Carlton Tyler and Antoine Kingwere fighting, in the 1400 block of Miller Street, before Tyler pointed a rifle at at the King.
King went to the hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his back, before police made it to the scene.
When they arrived police say Tyler and his family were trying to flee the scene.
“A perimeter was set up around the home before they could even develop a plan to contact the occupants of the house, they actually came out. An adult male, an adult female, and two small children exited and attempted to get in a vehicle out front,” said Lt. David Williams, Jefferson City Police Department.
Tyler was then arrested with no complication on first-degree assault, armed criminal action and felon with a firearm.
Some witnesses told police King was not armed.
Court documents say Tyler’s wife told investigators King was armed, and her husband tried shooting twice.
The first time his gun did not go off according to his wife.
What the two men were fighting about is still unknown.
