Tracking summer-like heat and storm chances through graduation weekend

TODAY: I'm tracking scattered showers and storms to the south of I-70 throughout the afternoon, but most will be staying dry, partly sunny, and hot as temperatures warm into the upper 80s, with dewpoints making it feel a couple of degrees warmer. Winds will be out of the south at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a slightly more widespread round of showers and weakening storms moving in from Northern Missouri overnight, lingering through sunrise as they enter Central Missouri. Some storms could be stronger, but any widespread severe threat is not expected. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-60s by the end of the night as winds continue to mostly blow out of the south at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking this round of showers and storms moving out of the area throughout Saturday morning, but some isolated activity can still be expected during Saturday afternoon as temperatures warm into the mid-80s. Sunday, sunshine, heat, and humidity can be expected as temperatures get into the low 90s by the afternoon hours. More storm chances are anticipated after heat Monday afternoon, arriving in the evening/early overnight hours, and these storms have a better potential of becoming strong to severe, which is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be set to go into effect. These stronger storm chances could linger into Tuesday, but by Wednesday, a cooler and drier forecast is expected to return.
