Nordyne in Boonville to cease production in June

A Nordyne official in Boonville confirms production at the factory will cease in mid-June. Nordyne announced in November that they would be closing factories in Boonville and in Poplar Bluff.

Nordyne says there are currently 52 employees left at the Boonville facility. The first round of layoffs at the Boonville plant happened early this year, when about 50 employees were laid off in mid-January.

The company announced in 2013 it would consolidate its Missouri plants at a factory in Mexico.

Nordyne’s website describes the company as a product-driven indoor comfort systems manufacturer. The website notes Nordyne began in 1919 as the International Oil Heating Company in St. Louis.

Boonville has been impacted by layoffs and plant closings in recent years. In late 2012, Hostess and Indeeco in Boonville closed their doors, leaving about 150 people looking for work.
