Route UU west of Columbia will be closed until September so crews can replace a bridge.
The construction started Tuesday morning off Gillespie Bridge Road, which becomes Chapel Hill.
The new bridge is on the Sugar Branch Creek, just south of the Midway exit of I-70.
MoDOT recommends taking I-70 or Highway O around the closure as a detour.
