Moniteau Co. prosecutor targeted in drive-by shooting

Police are investigating after a mid-Missouri prosecutor was targeted in a drive-by shooting, according to the prosecutor himself.

Moniteau County Prosecutor Shayne Healea told ABC 17 News he had only been home for about 15 minutes Friday night when someone opened fire at his house in California.

Several residents on the street said they heard five quick shots just after 10 p.m.

No one was injured in the shooting.

The California Police Department investigated the shooting Friday night and Saturday morning, alongside the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement told ABC 17 News Saturday night they were not commenting at this time.

Healea was first elected as the Moniteau County prosecutor in 2010. He won re-election in November, running unopposed.

Columbia police arrested Healea in late October for backing a truck into a back window of Addison’s restaurant downtown. The debris injured four people inside. A Boone County grand jury indicted Healea on five criminal charges, including assault. Healea admitted to backing his truck into the restaurant, but denied knowing he hit it at the time.
