Fulton arson suspect now linked to two other arson cases
A Fulton man arrested for an arson at a vacant home in the central part of the city last night is now a suspect in at least two other intentionally set fires.
Mark Aungerer was charged late this afternoon for the fire last night on Vine Street and authorities confirmed around the same time he’s suspected of an arson next door that happened last December.
Police also said he was a person of interest in a fire at his mother’s home more than 10 years ago.
The police and fire chief said today they were never able to prove he did it but the fire was considered suspicious when it happened.
Aungerer was arrested Monday night, hours after crews were called to 723 Vine Street for a fire that broke out around 5:30 p.m.
Fulton police initially took one man into custody for questioning, then later said Aungerer had been identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested.
Damages to the house are estimated to be around $1,000.
