Audrain Co. city gets new outdoor warning siren

An Audrain County city has a brand new outdoor warning siren just in time for severe weather season.

The siren officially went live in Martinsburg last week, which is near Mexico.

The old siren was first installed 35 years ago. The technology eventually stopped working 5 years ago.

The new alert system covers just under half a mile in any direction.

It’s designed to be heard from anyone who is outside, and can work for the whole town.

It cost almost $10,000, and was funded through donations from over ten different agencies.

That includes Consolidated Electric, which put in the pole.

It also means every incorporated town in Audrain Co. now has working sirens.
