Lightning damages home in Jefferson City
One woman is out of her home after a lightning strike at about 6:15 Wednesday night in Jefferson City.
Firefighters at Fire Station #2 saw and heard the lightning strike, and saw smoke coming from the home on East McCarty.
Crews got to the home quickly and evacuated everyone from the building.
Officials said there isn’t a lot of structural damage, but there is a large hole in the roof.
The bulk of the damage was to the electrical system. Ameren actually had to pull service to one of the units because it was badly burned with about $15,000 in damage.
The lightning wasn’t the only problem in the area Wednesday. Parts of Cole Co. had golf ball sized hail, and in Linn, people had hail the size of an orange.
Others in Osage County told ABC 17 they have damaged cars.
