JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A wreck on US 54/63 eastbound near the Airport road exit closed the middle and right lane for one hour after a tire went flat around 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to a release by the Jefferson City police, a 1997 Peterbilt dump truck was traveling eastbound on US 54 crossing the Missouri River Bridge in the middle lane when the tire deflated.

Officials said the deflation caused the driver to lose control of the truck were it skidded into the right lane and then off the right side of the roadway where it struck a guardrail with the passenger side of the truck.

The middle and right lane of eastbound US 54/63 was shut down for 1 hour while emergency crews worked to clear the roadway.

The driver of the Peterbilt was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and reported he was uninjured.
