Toddler improving after falling into local pond

The Camden County Sheriff’s department issued an update Monday for a Mid-Missouri toddler who was found unresponsive in a pond near the Lake of the Ozarks.

The parents of James Lewis III say he is improving but still in critical condition.

Investigators believe the 2 year-old wandered away from a home near Cody Lane in Camdenton while he was outside with an adult. It happened more than a week ago on March 15.

The child was missing for at least 20 minutes. Deputies performed CPR at the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

The boy was later flown from Lake Regional to a hospital in Columbia.
