Wintry mix Friday- AM Saturday

Southerly winds will carry low level moisture north to the Lake of the Ozarks early Friday morning. As this moisture moves over the freezing temperatures a the surface, areas of freezing drizzle are possible. This could cause some slick spots, where the drizzle is more concentrated. Heading into the afternoon and evening, the moisture will increase ahead of a developing storm system to our west.

Freezing rain is expected to increase from the Lake of the Ozarks in the evening and spread north overnight, mixing with sleet at times. A glazing to a tenth of an inch of ice is expected to develop Friday night causing slick roads overnight.

At this time it looks like areas north of I-70 will see mainly light snow & sleet with this storm system, adding up to up to 2 inches through Saturday morning. Areas south won’t see much accumulating snow but the chance of ice is greater.

The storm system moves out by early afternoon Saturday as drier and colder air moves in for the remainder of the weekend.
