Osage Co. sheriff appeals loss of peace officer’s license
On Thursday lawyers for the Osage County Sheriff filed a motion for immediate stay, appealing a decision from the state to revoke his peace officer’s license. Sheriff Michael Dixon had thirty days to appeal Monday’s decision.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety took away his license on Monday, which means Sheriff Dixon can not make any arrests himself.
The decision was part of a larger process about six weeks long, including a disciplinary hearing in mid-December that lasted nearly five hours.
That meeting centered around Dixon’s criminal charges from 2013 including stalking, sexual misconduct and assault.
Dixon eventually pleaded guilty to harassing a co-worker at the Belle police department.
