Mid-Missouri gas prices spike

Gas prices have had a roller coaster of a week.

After dropping 10 cents earlier this week, prices were back up another five cents Saturday.

Missouri holds on to the title of lowest average gas prices in the country at $1.76 a gallon.

The state’s fifth lowest fuel tax in the country also helps keep the prices low.

Prices in Columbia stayed just above the state average, at $1.79 a gallon.

Despite the price jump, many drivers told ABC 17 News they’re still happy with the lower than average price.

One car dealer said people should still take advantage of it while it’s here.

“Ride it while it’s here,” said Eric Cronacher with Bob McCosh Chevrolet. “It’s still cheaper than it was and it’s still better than it was.”

The national average for gas prices is $2.07 a gallon.
