Construction begins on major Mid-Missouri bridge

Construction is officially underway on a major Mid-Missouri highway bridge.

Work began Thursday on the Highway 50 bridge in Jefferson City.

Drivers will need to find an alternative route because the eastbound Highway 50 ramp to Big Horn Drive will be closed until the project is finished next month.

Crews are making emergency repairs to the bridge because a truck slammed into it last month.

MoDOT suggests you allow extra time for your commute.
