UPDATE: Police arrest suspected Dollar General, BreakTime robber
Columbia police arrested a man the department believes robbed two stores this weekend.
According to a news release from the department, officers arrested Robert L. Buck for robbing both the Dollar General on Vandiver Dr. Sunday night and the BreakTime store on Smiley Lane Saturday night.
Around 5 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a robbery at the Dollar General. Police on the scene said a white man in his 40s with brown hair, wearing glasses, a black jacket and jeans came into the store.
The suspect indicated he had a gun and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot with cash. The clerks never saw the gun.
The release said an officer reviewing surveillance footage from the store recognized Buck. Officers found Buck on 1412 Rangeline St., about a half mile from the Dollar General, and arrested him.
During an interview with police, Buck admitted to robbing both the Dollar General and the BreakTime on Smiley Lane, the release said.
A man robbed the BreakTime store Saturday at 9:45 p.m. The suspect implied he had a gun, but never showed it, police said.
