JCCC prisoner indicted in death of cellmate

A prisoner at the Jefferson City Correctional Center was indicted Tuesday in the August 20 death of his cellmate.

Randy Teter is charged with first degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Mark Melton.

The indictment said Teter beat Melton, and stomped on his head and throat.

Melton was serving a sentence for first degree attempted sodomy, and Teter was serving a sentence for 1999 second degree murder and armed criminal action charges out of Jackson County.

Teter is being held on those charges with no bond.
