Central Methodist breaks ground on new health building

Construction began Friday morning on a multi-million dollar Allied Health building at Central Methodist University.

The president of the university said without the building they would have had to turn students away.

“Because of our existing facilities, we have an incredible nursing program today, but we’re just not large enough to house the demand that we have, and it just breaks our heart as a mission-driven institution to turn students away for a profession that has such a great need in our society,” said President Roger Drake.

This is the first phase of a $20 million fund that was also announced at the groundbreaking, the second largest campaign in the University’s history.
