Two arrested for robbery northeast of Columbia

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of taking part in a robbery Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was carrying a video game console while walking along Snead Drive. Someone came up, grabbed the console and ran away.

The victim tried to chase the thief, but was surrounded by several other people who attacked him.

Deputies at the scene identified Lorenzo Shepard, 18, and David Canady, 17, as two people involved in the incident. Shepard tried to run when deputies went to arrest him, but was caught before he could get away. Their alleged roles in the robbery have not been revealed.

Shepard was arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault and resisting arrest. Canady was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.

Deputies say they haven’t yet identified the other people in the robbery.
