Second arrest made in Columbia shooting

Columbia police have made a second arrest in a July 5th shooting.

Early Monday morning police arrested Tavion Jones, 18, of Columbia for the shooting that happened in the 300 block of West Worley. Two people were injured in the shooting when dozens of shots were fired.

Jones was arrested on two counts of first degree assault. The investigation still continues in the case. Jamar Burns, 23, was also arrested in the case.

Police caught up to Jones in the area of Edenton Boulevard and Bodie Drive. Officers recognized a vehicle known to be associated with Jones and pulled it over. During the stop police found a handgun concealed in Jones’ waistband.
