Son charged for assaulting, robbing father

A Moberly man was charged Saturday, accused of assaulting and robbing his 59-year-old father on Thursday.

Gabriel Fennel, 30, was held Saturday in the Randolph County Justice Center on $100,000 bond. He was charged with felony assault, robbery, and tampering with evidence.

Police said in a news release Fennel tried to take some undisclosed property from his father’s home in the 1000 block of Shinnock Avenue on Thursday. During a disagreement over it, Fennel allegedly hit his father in the head.

The father, who was not identified, was taken to University Hospital for his injuries. There was not an update on his condition Saturday evening.

Fennel was arrested some time after the attack across town, in the 1400 block of Riley Industrial Drive.
