Columbia man named director of Dept. of Social Services

Governor Nixon named a Columbia man director of the Department of Social Services Monday.

Brian Kinkade, who is currently the acting director of the department, has been a resident of Columbia
since 1981 and studied at the University of Missouri.

“Brian’s depth of experience and tireless commitment to the health and safety of Missouri families have madehim a great asset to the Department and to the Missourians it serves,”Gov. Nixon said in a news release. “Brian is a dedicated public servant who has earned respect from both sides of the aisle and I am pleased that this important post will continue to benefit from his strong leadership.”

Kinkade’s career at the Department of Social Services spans 5 administrations.

Prior to serving as the Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Department, Kinkade directed the Divisionof Budge and Finance as well as the Division of Child Support Enforcement.

Kinkade previously served as the Executive Director for the Missouri Public Service Commission. He began hishis career with the Missouri Senate Appropriations committee as a budget analyst.
