Mizzou freshman J’Den Cox is NCAA Champion

Saturday night, true freshman J’Den Cox defeated Ohio State wrestler Nick Heflin for the in the 197lb Championship title with a 2-1 decision becoming the youngest champion in Missouri history.

Cox became the youngest All-American in Mizzou’s wrestling history Friday night after winning his semifinal match and the first Tiger to reach the final round since 2010.

Coming out of Hickman high school last year, Cox was a four time state champion.

Drake Houdashelt finishes in fifth place after beating No. 15 Mitchell Minotti with a 3-0 decision following a scoreless third period.

Houdashelt became an All-American Friday night.
