Columbia Police arrest 11 at DWI checkpoints

Columbia police arrested 11 drunk drivers over St. Patrick’s Day weekend at two differentDWI checkpoints.

City police worked with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department to stop 272 drivers on Friday and Saturday night.

Friday’s checkpoint at Locust and Waugh yielded 4 arrests; two people were charged with driving while intoxicated, one for having drug paraphernalia, and one for operating a vehicle without a license.

Saturday night’s checkpoint stopped drivers at Locust and Fourth after midnight until about 3 a.m.

9 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, 2 for driving with a suspended or revoked license, one for resisting arrest.
