Designate a driver for St. Patrick’s Day weekend
Mid-Missouri law enforcement is increasing DWI check point patrols to curb impaired driving this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Missouri Highway Patrol has confirmed there will be a check point in Cole County sometime this month.
Over the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend, there were 412 “Driving While Intoxicated” arrests made.
218 people were killed and 666 seriously injured in Missouri in 2013 in crashes involving alcohol and drugs.
“It’s never worth the risk to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers can lose their license, pay large fines, or worst of all, cause a tragic loss of life,” said Police Chief Roger Schroeder in a news release. “The only safe driver is one that is completely sober.
If you do not have a designated driver or are with an impaired driver, Jefferson City Police said to have the establishment call Sober Driver at (573)-636-5161 for a free ride home.
