Fire crews confirm lightning caused a house fire in Southern Boone County Sunday
HARTSBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)
UPDATE (9:30 P.M.): Southern Boone County Fire assistant chief Tom Redford confirmed the fired was cause by a lightning strike.
Chief James Bullard of the Southern Boone Fire Protection District said at the scene, they there was extensive damage to the first floor of the home and the roof is destroyed.
"Arriving units found extensive fire involvement to the roof line and entire roof on side B it did not breach in the main story yet, it did eventually breach on both ends. The roof is gone it’s burned off the main level there are some areas with fire damage, there’s a lot of smoke and water damage, there’s water damage in the basement,", said Bullard.
Bullard said at the scene there were no injuries from the fire, but 2 cats were inside of the home.
"No injuries everybody was outside, I believe there were 2 cats in the building,", said Bullard.
ORIGINAL: Crews put out a house fire in Hartsburg on Sunday.
ABC17 News crews witnessed the large fire in the 15000 block of Lost Cabin Road in Hartsburg around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday.
About seven fire trucks were seen on battling the fire, as well as emergency medical services.
Southern Boone Fire Protection District Chief James Bullard said on the scene were were no injuries.
He said the roof is destroyed, the the first floor received heavy smoke and water damage.
